New attraction at Ala Moana Center offers thrill ride, video game adventure

Looking for something fun to do with your family?

Check out the new Xtreme 7D Dark Rides at Ala Moana Center.

It combines the thrill of a simulated ride with the fun of an action-packed video game.

Have you ever been on the Star Wars ride at Disneyland? The company behind it also created this attraction.

“It’s going to be the same chairs, same movement. The only difference is this one’s interactive,” explains general manager Justin Alpert.

Guests are given 3D glasses and laser guns and can shoot whatever’s on the screen, whether it’s zombies, werewolves, or robots.

Worried about motion sickness? Our own Kristine Uyeno says it’s a lot of fun, and she did not get sick.

“Of course, your chairs shake a little bit and it kind of goes back and forth, but it’s not a rollercoaster. But it does seem like it’s real,” she says.

Xtreme 7D Dark Rides celebrates its grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 9:30 a.m. The first 50 rides will be free with $6 rides all day after that.

Xtreme 7D Dark Rides is located at Ala Moana Center, Hookipa Terrace Upper Level 4, near Macy’s. Click here for more information and to purchase tickets.

Don’t want to drive into town? There’s also a location at Ka Makana Alii in Kapolei.
