Nainoa Thompson talks future Hokulea voyaging plans

News

The voyaging canoe Hokulea has plans for a new adventure.

Tonight a fundraiser gala was held at the Hawaii Convention Center marking the official end of Hokulea’s Malama Honua Worldwide Voyage.

Polynesian Voyaging Society President Nainoa Thompson announced the canoe’s next major sail tonight.

Thompson said it will be a six year campaign on removing ignorance about the world, different cultures, biology and wildlife.

The voyage will include countries such as Australia, China, Japan and even Russia.

No date for the voyage has been set. However, it’s expected to be longer than the Worldwide Voyage in both distance and time.
