Despite opening eyes through his first week of fall camp at the University of Southern California, Mililani graduate Vavae Malepeai will have to wait some time to make his USC Trojan debut.
The former Mililani Trojan suffered a broken scapula in practice, and will miss 6-8 weeks according to USC head coach Clay Helton. The injury is not expected to require surgery.
Malepeai was the 2015 Cover2 Marcus Mariota player of the year award winner, and holds the state record for career rushing yards with 4,549 and touchdowns with 71.
USC opens their 2016 season September 3rd against Alabama.
