A Maui firefighter was injured when crews battled a fire in Honokohau Valley Tuesday.
The alarm came in at 5:34 p.m.
When crews arrived, they found a makeshift structure fully involved in flames. An area of 60 feet by 40 feet of loose piled items was also on fire.
Firefighters worked quickly to knock down flames and contain the fire, however because of the arrangement and large amount of loose items which were involved, complete extinguishment was not officially declared until 9:42 p.m.
Officials say a firefighter suffered lacerations to his hands, and was treated and released from Maui Memorial Medical Center later that evening.
Damages are estimated at $5,000 and the cause of this fire is undetermined.
