Life without “Mariota” for the Oregon Ducks can apparently wait.
KHON2 has confirmed that Matthew Mariota, the little brother of now former UO Heisman Trophy-winning Quarterback and top NFL prospect Marcus Mariota, will play football in Eugene next season.
Matthew will likely be a preferred walk-on for the Ducks.
Named as a 2014 All ILH honorable mention defensive lineman, Matthew is 6’3″, 230 lbs.
Matt’s big brother Marcus is currently in San Diego training for the NFL combine which takes place in Indianapolis in late February.
Last weekend, as part of the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame festivities, Mariota said that he is not sure if he will participate in throwing drills at the combine, since he is still recovering from a shoulder injury he suffered in the Ducks’ Colleger Football Playoff National Championship game loss to Ohio State.
