Man guilty of negligent homicide denied request for reduced sentence

An Oahu man found guilty of negligent homicide earlier this year has been denied his request for a reduced sentence.

Scott Ebert, a military reserve member, was first sentenced back in August, for slamming into a police officer’s car on the freeway in January 2012, killing the officer.

Ebert’s attorney argued the Air Force wanted to let him go and Ebert had a right to attend hearings for that. But the request was denied.

Ebert is currently serving a year in prison.
