Making Duke proud in Waikiki

It’s a day of fun, laughter and heated competition and all for a great cause. The 33rd Annual Duke Kahanamoku Beach Challenge happens Sunday at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Duke Kahanamoku Beach and Lagoon.

This morning on Wake Up 2day, Caroline Hayashi, President, Waikiki Community Center (WCC), joined us in studio to talk about the event that features an exciting day of team canoe races, stand up paddle races and kayak races.

As WCC’s annual fundraiser, the event supports the multi-generational services the organization provides to the Waikiki community.

This year, WCC will celebrate its 40th anniversary of serving as a resource in caring for keiki and kupuna. WCC is committed to strengthening the entire community by being a “one stop shop” for human services, social support, lifelong education, and wellness for Waikiki’s families, keiki and seniors.
