A wrongful death lawsuit against the city has been dismissed after the city paid out a $5.2 million settlement to the family of Clifford Rigsbee.
Rigsbee was a Honolulu firefighter who died in June 2016 after a training exercise went wrong in the waters off Diamond Head.
Rigsbee was 63 years old.
The city released the source of funds for the settlement. Insurance will pay $4,228,608.41 and the City’s general fund will pay $1,021,391.59. Fees and costs are $478,608.41.
