Starting next month, Ward Village will be transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with an ice skating rink.
The Ward Village Ice Rink will be located at the Ward Village Information Center Courtyard (former IBM Building) from Nov. 27 to Jan. 10.
It will be open daily, with tickets (including skate rentals) available at the rink at $15 per person for a one-and-a-half hour skate time.
“We’re going to have our tent up so it’s going to take over the whole courtyard to keep it a very cold environment,” said Sara Neubauer of Ward Village. “We’re also going to have a generator and chiller operating 24/7 to keep the ice nice and frozen.”
Kope Coffee Co. will offer hand-crafted beverages and refreshments, including hot cocoa, espresso drinks and more.
The Howard Hughes Corp. hosts similar open-air ice rinks at some of its properties on the mainland, but the Hawaii location will be its first in tropical weather.
Ice Rink Events will construct and manage the 4,200-square-foot ice rink.
