HONOLULU (KHON2) - The popular and historic The Willows restaurant will be shutting its doors on December 31. That's according to an employee we spoke with on Sunday.
The Moiliili restaurant first opened in 1944 and has provided patrons with open air dining with a garden feel.
Many we spoke with on Sunday are saddened about the news.
Edward Goo said, "It's the decorations and how they set up the feeling of neighborhood which is pretty much old Hawai'i."
"It's a landmark I think I've been here since I was probably in high school and you know that's a lot of years that I've been coming here i came first with my parents and then with my own family so It was really sad when I heard the news because I love to come here at least once a year," added Marsha Arakawa.
We're told the adjoining restaurant Karai Crab is in the process of looking for a new location.
