The dead whale carcass on Kealia Beach remains and it could attract sharks

Local News

Authorities kept Kealia Beach on Kauai island closed to swimming again following the appearance of a whale carcass.

It washed ashore on Sunday, May 25, and it’s still there — and it could attract sharks.

Signs have been posted and lifeguards are warning beachgoers to stay out of the water.

State Land Department officials are still trying to determine how to best remove the carcass.
