Post-surgery, Sunny Garcia is looking good.
The Hawaii world champion surfer was in critical condition in the ICU at a Portland-area hospital and was scheduled to go in for surgery.
After the surgery, his vitals looked “really good,” said his daughter Kaila in a social media post on Monday, May 27.
Garcia recently underwent a trach surgery — a procedure that creates an opening in the windpipe.
Kaila also posted that due to “some complications, [doctors] were not able to do Dad’s PEG so he still has a feeding tube in his nose.”
She says that her “Dad is still healing from his trach surgery. His vitals are really good right now. He’s been moving his fingers, feet and toes slightly. He yawns and even moves his head a little.“
