The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) notifies motorists that there are no regular daytime construction closures scheduled on state routes in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday on Monday, May 27, 2019. Emergency work such as the ongoing slope stabilization on Pali Highway and the bridge work on Kuhio Highway may occur.

Special use lanes (e.g., HOV, express shoulder, and contraflow lanes) on Oahu and Kauai will not be operational. This includes the morning contraflow and PM Kailua bound access to Pali Highway. A full list of regular special use lanes can be found at http://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/special-use-lanes/

Kauai residents on the north shore should be aware that the Kuhio Highway access past Waipa Bridge will be operating on the Sunday/Holiday schedule on Monday, May 27. Placard-holders will be permitted access to Wainiha and Haena in both directions between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.

HDOT advises motorists to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time to get to their destinations. HDOT advises motorists to use traffic apps like GoAkamai to view up to the minute traffic conditions before getting on the road.
