Makaha animal shelter owners sentencing pushed to July

Local News

The mother and son found guilty of cruelty to animals were supposed to be sentenced on Friday, May 10, 2019.

But it was pushed back to July.

The attorneys for David and June Moore have asked the judge for more time to prepare for sentencing.

The two ran a no-kill animal shelter in Makaha called Friends for Life. The two were arrested in 2016 after the animals were found in deplorable conditions.

On May 10, David was sentenced to 30 days in jail for contempt of court after he filed a motion with the Supreme Court to try to discredit Prosecutor Jan Futa.

The Moores will be sentenced on July 17.

Until then, they are required to allow the probation officer to enter and view their property at any time.
