Katherine Kealoha says she needs immediate treatment for cancer, and is asking for a delay in her federal trial.

That’s according to a court filing Friday by her attorney Cynthia Kagiwada.

“Kealoha’s physicians have recently determined that Ms. Kealoha must receive immediate treatment for cancer,” the filing says in asking for the delay from March 18, to May 20, 2019.

Katherine Kealoha, her husband former police chief Louis Kealoha, and several police officers are charged in connection with an alleged mailbox theft and obstruction scheme.

Jury selection is scheduled to begin on March 18 at the Blaisdell Pikake Room, due to the high number of jurors expected to be questioned.

Both Kealohas are expected in court Friday morning for an update on the trial. Stay with KHON2 and KHON2.com for the latest.
