Hawaii's Most Wanted: Chang-Lai Betiru

HONOLULU (KHON2) - CrimeStoppers and Honolulu police are looking for 20-year-old Chang-Lai Betiru.

Police say on July 20, 2016, at approximately 3 a.m., a male taxi cab driver was dispatched to the Palolo Valley Laundromat to pick up a customer.

"Upon arriving at the laundromat, three males entered the taxi cab. One of the males, who was seated behind the victim, placed him in a choke hold. A second male then brandished a knife and threatened to kill the victim if he didn't give them all his money, and then began to punch the victim's face numerous times," said Sgt. Chris Kim with CrimeStoppers.

Kim says they took the money and got away, but police identified Chang-Lai Betiru as the suspect who put the driver in a choke hold.

Police found and arrested him for second-degree robbery.

Police now have a $40,000 bench warrant for his arrest for not complying with the terms of his probation.

"He has one prior conviction and is known to frequent the Honolulu area," Kim said.

If you know where Betiru is, call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
