Hawaii Foodbank receives donations for inaugural holiday food drive

HONOLULU (KHON2) - The Hawaii Foodbank collected enough food and monetary donations for 10,000 meals during its inaugural holiday food drive.

The food bank put out a call to the community to host their own food drives. The food bank asked that these donations of food and monetary be taken to their Mapunapuna warehouse on Saturday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The Hawaii Foodbank, in partnership with the food industry and community, serves as a link between charities and those in need of food assistance including the elderly, families, children and those facing financial crises each week. Last year, the Hawaii Foodbank distributed over 13.7 million pounds of food in Oahu and Kauai, including 3.6 million pounds of fresh produce.
