HONOLULU (KHON2) - Fire crews respond to two-alarm fire in Waipahu.
On April 14, 2019, at 12:54 p.m., the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) responded with 11 units staffed with 36 personnel to a building fire at West Oahu Roofing located at 94-170 Leoole Street. The first unit arrived at 12:58 p.m. to find a two-story warehouse building fully involved with fire.
Personnel established command, secured a water source and commenced with firefighting operations. The fire was brought under control at 1:30 p.m. and the fire was extinguished at 2:42 p.m.
It was reported that the business was closed and no occupants were inside of the building.
HECO was notified and arrived on scene to secure power to the building.
The fire is under investigation and a cause has not yet been determined.
Fire damage estimates are not available at this time.
The building did not have working smoke alarms, and it did not have fire sprinklers.
The HFD will continue to advocate for fire sprinklers in buildings.
