A man was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish prison today on charges that include multiple counts of attempted first degree murder.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said Donald Ray Mack forced himself into a home in the 9000 block of Cefalu Dr. just before midnight on June 1.
When EBRSO homicide detectives responded, they found one male and one female with multiple gunshot wounds to the stomach area. Both people were taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Investigators believe that after entering the home, Mack walked into a room where the female victim was with her minor child.
A witness at the residence provided detectives with a detailed account of what was believed to have occurred. The witness was able to flee the scene with the minor child.
Police say Mack was read his Miranda rights before confessing to shooting the victims. He also said he had been in a romantic relationship with the female victim for several years.
Police have charge Mack with
- two counts of murder in the first degree,
- illegal use of a weapon,
- domestic abuse battery causing serious bodily injury,
- domestic abuse battery child endangerment (felony),
- home invasion.
