A Lihue couple has been displaced from a home on Ohiohi Street following a fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon.
The 48-year-old male and 51-year-old female residents were home when the fire started. Both were able to escape without injury.
Firefighters from the Lihue and Kapaa fire stations were dispatched to the two-story house at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Crews had the fire contained at roughly 2 p.m. and fully extinguished by 2:50 p.m.
Fire prevention inspectors estimate $90,000 in damages to the structure and its contents.
The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
The American Red Cross has been notified.
