The Department of Health’s Clean Water Branch has issued a brown water advisory for Honokahua Bay on Maui due to heavy rains.
The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, sewer manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals and associated flood debris.
Turbid water runoff have been known to attract sharks due to possible dead animals being washed into the ocean.
If coastal waters are brown, stay out.
