Biki offering prize to one-millionth rider

HONOLULU (KHON2) - Who will take the one-millionth Biki ride? Whomever it is will receive two roundtrip tickets from Honolulu to Tokyo, and a Biki bike adopted in their honor inscribed with a message of his or her choice.

"We are super excited to reach this significant milestone ride so soon after celebrating our one-year anniversary on June 28," said Lori McCarney, CEO of Bikeshare Hawaii. "It's a true testament to how popular and embraced Biki is by Honolulu residents and visitors. We are currently at just over 960,000 rides and are averaging a little more than 3,000 rides per day. At this rate, we anticipate reaching one million rides in the next two weeks."

The Biki member who takes the millionth ride on a Biki bike will be awarded two roundtrip tickets from Honolulu to Tokyo on ANA, All Nippon Airways, a World's 5-Star Airline since 2013.

A Biki bike will also carry the inscription of the winner's choice. This normally requires a $1000 donation through Biki's Adopt-a-Bike program. Sixteen Biki bikes have been adopted helping to support Bikeshare Hawaii's non-profit mission. The lucky member will be able to track their bike through an online dashboard and find out information such as how many miles the bike has traveled, how many calories it has burned, CO2 emissions it has saved, and how many people have taken it for a ride.

"We are extremely thankful to ANA for donating the tickets. As one of five Biki major supporters, ANA understands the benefit of bikeshare to both visitors and local residents, and we are grateful for its continued support of our nonprofit," said Kelsey Colpitts, marketing and communications manager for Bikeshare Hawaii.

Only riders who are Biki members are qualified to win the grand prize, and the ride must be a minimum of two minutes. To become a Biki member, visit gobiki.org.
