Four people are safe after a two-alarm fire broke out in Manoa.

The call came in at 7:51 a.m. from a two-story home on Kumu Place.

Nine fire companies staffed with 35 personnel responded.

The first HFD unit arrived at 7:57 a.m. to find smoke and flames emanating from the ground floor unit. Approximately 30 percent of the structure was on fire.

Personnel established command, secured a water source and initiated an internal fire attack utilizing water and foam to suppress the flames and protect neighboring structures.

Fire officials said four people were inside but escaped unharmed.

The fire was brought under control at 8:21 a.m.

The fire is under investigation and the cause has not been determined. Damages are estimated to be $120,000 to the structure and $10,000 to its contents.

The American Red Cross has been dispatched to assist the two families displaced by the fire.
