A massive crowd was on hand Thursday morning to celebrate L&L Hawaiian Barbecue’s 40th anniversary.
The restaurant offered plate lunches for just 40 cents from 10 a.m.-noon only at its Keeaumoku Street location inside Walmart.
A line wrapped around the block with customers eager to snag their choice of kalua pork with cabbage, chicken katsu, or hamburger steak.
Fountain drinks were available for 10 cents each. The celebration included free T-shirts if you brought canned goods, and a month’s supply of Pepsi for the first 10 customers in line.
All proceeds collected from Thursday morning’s plate lunch sales were donated to the Hawaii Foodbank.
L&L has 187 locations throughout Hawaii, Alaska, California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Utah, Guam, New York, and Tennessee, as well as Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.
