With a commitment to local programming, KHON welcomes KHII to the Nexstar broadcast family in Hawaii on January 28. The new station will occupy channel 5 and 1005 on the Spectrum, Hawaiian Telcom, Dish, Direct TV, and over the air.
KHII joins flagship KHON and the CW network as a partner in our endeavor to provide the most comprehensive, accurate news and most consistent voice in local programming.
“Our broadened role in the local broadcast community comes with exciting changes,” says KHON General Manager Kristina Lockwood. “We are expanding our staff and enhancing our technology to accommodate our increased presence in serving the viewers in our state. Across all three stations we will be producing 47 hours of news each week, and another five-and-a-half hours of local programming. We are so proud to be able to offer this as a resource to our viewers on air and online.”
While simulcasting KHON’s award-winning newscasts, three additional newscasts will ensure Hawaii viewers receive the most reliable and relatable local news that affects our communities:
- A one-hour primetime newscast on KHII with Marisa Yamane and Brigette Namata; Jan. 28, 7 – 8 p.m.
- A 9:30 p.m. newscast on KHON; Feb. 4
- A 4 p.m. newscast on KHON; Feb. 4
KHII will retain the MyNetwork affiliation (formerly from KFVE) and will schedule several new programs entirely locally-produced, while highlighting our current award-winning local shows Living808, Cover2, Sam Choy in the Kitchen, and Pamela Young’s Mixed Plate. KHII viewers will also enjoy the following syndicated shows: Divorce Court, Judge Faith, Access Hollywood, The Doctors, Family Feud and Big Bang.
