Ocean Safety officials have closed Kauai’s Kekaha Beach to swimming until further notice due to a shark sighting.
Lifeguards report that a roughly eight-foot shark was spotted offshore. The type of shark is unknown.
As a safety precaution, officials are advising no swimming until further notice. Lifeguards will continue to monitor the beach.
The beach will remain closed until at least Wednesday morning when lifeguards will reassess if it can be reopened.
