Kauai ocean safety officials are advising against swimming at all North Shore beaches due to high surf, strong shore breaks and dangerous currents.
Wave heights are over 25 feet in some areas.
A high surf warning continued Wednesday for all north- and west-facing shores of Kauai and Niihau.
The National Weather Service warns that anyone entering the water or standing near the shoreline in these areas risks significant injury or death. Large shore breaks will sweep across portions of the beach and have the potential to knock people off their feet and suck them into the water.
Ocean safety officials recommend beachgoers instead visit guarded beaches on the east and south shores, such as Lydgate or Poipu beach parks.
