Honolulu police have reopened Kalanianaole Highway as crews continue to a battle a brush fire at Makapuu.

The closure was in effect between Alan Davis Beach and Sea Life Park until about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.

The initial call came in at 2:43 p.m. Ten companies with 32 personnel are currently on scene.

The fire is reported to be 8 acres in size, burning just below the lighthouse trail.

Fire officials said at one point, the fire kept hikers on the trail, but once crews got that portion under control, police led them back down to the parking lot.

No one was injured and no damage was reported.

It was 100 percent contained by 6:30 p.m.
