Jaylin Kema, the mother of “Peter Boy” Kema Jr. has died.
Jaylin’s daughter, Lena Acol, says her mother died at Hilo Medical Center shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday. Acol says she was with her at the time.
Kema was convicted of manslaughter in 2017 for the death of her son “Peter Boy,” who disappeared on the Big Island 22 years ago.
She was sentenced to one year in prison and 10 years probation after agreeing to testify against her husband, the boy’s father, Peter Kema Sr. He then also plead guilty of manslaughter for the child’s death.
The father also agreed to show authorities where he hid the child’s body but after an intensive search, it was never found. Peter Kema Sr. remains in custody after being sentenced to 20 years in prison.
