UK officials wanted to get the public involved in naming a new state-of-the-art, $300-million research ship.

But the National Environment Research Council (NERC) is learning the hard way to be careful what you ask for, especially when it comes to the Internet.

The favorite name among voters by a landslide is RRS Boaty McBoatface with more than 30,000 votes.

The second most popular name is RRS Henry Worsley with a little more than 3,000 votes.

Other options include RRS Usain Boat, referencing the Olympic champion sprinter Usain Bolt, and RRS Ice Ice Baby, after ’90s rapper Vanilla Ice.

Voting is open until April 16. You can view the options and vote here.

However, the council says the names are only suggestions, and it will have the final say.
