Hawaii’s Republican Party chair Fritz Rohlfing sat down with Howard Dashefsky who also weighed in on the primary race for Honolulu mayor.
He says he is pleasantly surprised to see how close the race has become.
Although it’s the mayoral race is nonpartisan, he says it’s remarkable for Charles Djou.
“[Djou and Caldwell’s] neck and neck…I think it’s remarkable he’s about to get into a final runoff with the incumbent mayor,” said Rohlfing. “I’m looking forward to a very vigorous campaign.”
He also spoke about where conceded mayoral candidate Peter Carlisle’s votes are going.
“His votes are up for grabs, the candidates need to earn them,” Rohlfing added.
