Hundreds gathered in downtown Honolulu Friday to step up healthy lifestyle habits.
Kaiser Permanente’s 12th annual Start Steppin’ event included a half-mile lunchtime walk around Bishop Square.
Participants stopped at various booths to play games, win prizes, and learn about programs and activities that encourage healthier lifestyles.
Doctors say just a half-hour of activity each day can go a long way to improving your health and fitness.
“We can all fit that into our day. Just take that long route into the office in the morning from your car or you just take a nice lunch break and stroll around,” said Dr. Benjamin Chun, a sports medicine doctor with Kaiser Permanente. “It’s a beautiful place, great downtown, get to see all your neighbors around, Great way to interact, de-stress, perfect place to stay healthy.”
Participants could also register for the Great Aloha Run, which takes place next February.
