A huge sinkhole as opened on Highway 11 near Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
The State Department of Transportation says the sinkhole is the result of earthquake damage.
The Hawaii County Police Department has closed one lane near the 30 mile marker near Volcano Country Club.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible, as alternate routes are not available at this time.
State crews will fill the sinkhole on Friday.
