After a 436 day layoff from competition, Waiakae graduate Brad Tavares will make his return to the octagon September 10th at UFC 203 against Brazil’s Caio Magales.
“I’m super excited to have a fight lined up. I was really bummed when I had to withdrawal from the fight with Leites. But I’m just glad I have my next fight scheduled. Looking forward to it and to put on a show for all my family, friends and fans” Tavares told KHON2 Sports Director Rob DeMello Tuesday evening.
Tavares told KHON’s Sam Spangler last week in Las Vegas that he was originally scheduled to return to fight Thalas Leites August 6th, but had to withdraw due to an injury.
The middleweight contender is 13-4 in his career (8-4 UFC), but is hoping to turn the tide from a knockout loss to Robert Whittaker in May of 2015.
UFC 203 in Cleveland, Ohio will air on UFC Fight Pass, Fox Sports 1, and Pay-Per-View.
