The director of the state health department says she’s looking forward to having a lot more free time by the end of this month.
Dr. Virginia Pressler announced last week that she will be retiring after three and a half years with the state Department of Health.
During that time she oversaw the dengue fever, hepatitis a, and mumps outbreaks.
She will turn 69 by the end of the month, and she says she’s looking forward to taking it easy.
“My husband and I are looking forward to spending more time out on the water doing stand up paddling, going out during the middle of the week, that just sounds like luxury to me,” said outgoing state health director Dr. Virginia Pressler. “Spending more time on the trails, spending more time visiting with family and friends.”
Bruce Anderson has been named interim health director.
He held the job during the Cayetano administration.
