Editor’s note: William Barnes was featured on Hawaii’s Most Wanted on Feb. 20, 2016. He has since been arrested.
Honolulu police say William Barnes, who has more than three dozen prior convictions, is no longer wanted.
Barnes was arrested by HPD.
“On Aug. 5, the complainant put a check in her mailbox, put the flag up, and it was a check for a renewal for a magazine subscription,” said CrimeStoppers Sgt. Kim Buffett. “Later that day she noticed her mailbox was open and the flag was still up but didn’t think anything about it.”
“On Aug. 27, 2014, she received her statement and noticed the check she had written had been altered and cashed by a man named William Barnes,” Buffett added.
Barnes was arrested in that case for forgery, theft and identity theft, and he’s now wanted on two warrants in connection with that case for not showing up for his court hearing earlier this month.
