Honolulu police are looking for a man who’s often seen on the island of Lana’i, and they say he had tried to cash a stolen check.
They are searching for Daron Bothelo.
“On April 26, 2007, the male entered the downtown bank of hawaii and tried to cash a business check when the teller checked on it, it was flagged and contacted the owner who said it was stolen from her vehicle,” said CrimeStoppers Sgt. Kim Buffett.
He was detained and police arrested him for forgery, but then, “while being searched during the arrest drugs and drug paraphrenalia was found in his pants pocket he was then arrested for promoting a dangerous drug 3 and unlawful use of drug paraphrenalia,” Buffett added.
He’s now wanted for a $20,000 cash-only probation revocation warrant because he didn’t show up for probation modification last month.
Buffett says Bothelo has five prior convictions and he’s known to frequent Lana’i City, as well as Honolulu.
Daron Bothelo is 46 years old, 5’8″, 143 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.
