Hawaii native performs in ‘Showtime at the Apollo’ finale

Roosevelt grad Matthew Hashimoto wasn’t the big winner on ‘Showtime at the Apollo.’

But he still did an amazing job.

Not only does he have an amazing singing voice, he’s also smart. He’s a periodontist, and now lives in New York.
His rendition of At Last by Etta James got him into the finals.

KHON2 talked to him before the finale aired and asked him about his experience.

“Just to be on that stage and sing and perform for people and get a very nice reaction is something ill never forget,” said Matthew Hashimoto. “The experience there has been one of the best in my life. I would not trade it for anything in the world.”

He said he’s working on some music of his own.
