It was a show of support for the Waipahu community on Saturday.
Dozens of people hopped on board a free trolley-and-shuttle to get a tour of the town, learn about its history and get to know the local businesses.
It was part of HART’s Shop and Dine on the Line initiative to help boost business for retailers and restaurants impacted by construction of the rail project.
“Thought it be a great way to check out how rail’s come along in this part of Waipahu and just support the businesses that are here,” said Mililani resident Marlon Rimando.
“It was full, it was packed end to end with folks who got the tour and this tour was a little bit more than just a shopping tour,” said HART spokesman Bill Brennan.
HART also says it hopes to do similar shuttle events in the airport area and down Dillingham Boulevard as rail construction snakes that way.
The event in Waipahu was put on in partnership with the Waipahu Community Association.
