The Department of Public Safety (PSD) announced the promotion of Scott Harrington as warden for the Halawa Correctional Facility and Thomas Evans as the Oahu Community Correctional Center chief of security, effective September 4, 2018.
“These managers have extensive experience in the corrections and criminal justice field,” said Public Safety Director Nolan Espinda. “I believe each of them will be able to contribute a great deal of knowledge and leadership in their newly assigned roles”.
Scott Harrington began his career with PSD in 1987 as a corrections officer and worked his way up the ranks to Waiawa Correctional Facility (WCF) chief of security and then next as the WCF Warden. He has been the acting warden at Halawa since August 2016.
Thomas Evans began working for PSD in 1994 as a correctional officer. He worked his way up the ranks to the Women’s Community Correctional Center chief of security, and then currently to the same position at WCF. He will take over for OCCC Chief of Security Constance Van Winkle, who retires on August 31, 2018.
