Former worker punished for $700,000 theft from health center

The woman accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison.

Stacie-Lynn Pihana used to work at the health center. Investigators say she ordered thousands of diabetic test strips then resold them. The strips ended up on the black market.

According to court records, Pihana initially pleaded not guilty to theft, but later changed her plea to no contest.

She must also pay back nearly $700,000.
