Chaminade University men’s basketball head coach Eric Bovaird announced Monday that Dantley Walker will join the Silverswords for the upcoming 2015-16 season.
The 5-foot-11 guard played sparingly as a redshirt freshman at UNLV this past season but enjoyed a stellar prep career at Lincoln County High School in Panaca, Nevada.
Walker is the all-time leading scorer in Nevada high school history with 3,304 points and was named to the Parade Magazine All-America First Team in 2011. Among the numerous state records he owns, Walker also holds Nevada state high school records for most career assists (887) and career 3-pointers (475) with a career scoring average of 28.7 points per game. He also is the state record-holder for points in a game with 73.
Walker was first team all-state all four years of high school and helped guide Lincoln to the Nevada Class 2A championship in 2008. As a senior, he averaged 36.2 points and 10.3 assists per game while leading the Lynx to a 24-7 record and a 2A semifinal appearance.
“I’m pleased to announce the signing of Dantley Walker,” Bovaird said. “Dantley had the greatest high school career of anyone I’ve been able to recruit.
“He is a great kid from a great family and will fit perfectly at Chaminade.”
Walker will have three years of eligibility remaining.
