Dozens injured in crash involving school bus in Salt Lake

Dozens were injured Friday in a crash involving two vehicles and a school bus.

It happened at around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Lawehana Street and Bougainville Drive.

The bus was carrying students from Pearl Harbor Elementary.

According to Emergency Medical Services, 61 people were involved, not including the bus driver. 

Fifty-nine were on the bus, and two were in their separate vehicles.

Twenty-eight patients were taken to the hospital. Twenty-six were bus passengers. A 9-year-old was listed in serious condition. The rest were listed in stable condition.

The other two patients were in separate vehicles. EMS says a 41-year-old and 16-year-old were hospitalized in serious condition.

Thirty-one people refused treatment.

The bus driver was not a patient and received no treatment from EMS.
