There’s another concern on many resident’s minds during Hurricane Lane: what if you need dialysis?
KHON2 spoke to the head of the Hawaii Healthcare Emergency Management agency who told us they’ve tried to work with patients ahead of time to address their needs. Some people were even offered pre-dialysis, along with a special dietary plan, to buy time until Hurricane Lane passes.
They’re actively monitoring all the centers around the island to see which ones shut down, and which are open.
If you need dialysis and you’re in a shelter, you can ask them to contact the county to help find a center open near you.
