Deputy US Marshal under investigation for smashing California woman’s cell phone

LOS ANGELES (CNN) – A deputy U.S. Marshal is under investigation after a video surfaces that appeared to show an officer break a woman’s cell phone.

In the video posted to YouTube, an officer grabbed the cell phone then slammed it into the ground.

The incident happened in South Gate, CA Sunday.

The LA Times said the woman, Beatriz Paez, was recording law enforcement detaining people in her neighborhood.

“I saw that the officers had around 8 people men and women on the lawn and they were pointing automatic weapons to the heads of these people,” Paez said. “The officers noted that I was filming that and they changed their behavior.”
