Demarest out as Rainbow Warrior assistant

For the third time this offseason, the University of Hawai’i football team has a vacancy in an assistant coaching position.

KHON2 sports has confirmed that Chris Demarest, one of head coach Norm Chow’s original assistants with the program, is leaving UH for family reasons.

During his time with the Rainbow Warriors, Demarest presided over a special teams unit that featured return man Mike Williams being named Mountain West special teams player of the year in 2012, and punter Scott Harding named a Ray Guy semifinalist in 2014.

Demarest joins former defensive coordinator Kevin Clune and defensive backs coach Daronte’ Jones as staff members who have left the program this offseason.
