Cold front moves to Hawai’i island, followed by cool, chilly air

A Cold Front sweeps through the islands creating heavy rainfall and flooding for some areas.

The Flood Advisories for Maui and Hawai’i islands have been cancelled, however the Wind Advisory for Kona, Small Craft Advisory, and High Surf Advisories are still in effect.

Heavy rains started for Ni’ihau and Kaua’i yesterday, and O’ahu early this morning.

Currently, the front moves farther away from Maui to Hawai’i island, and is expected to move out of the state by tomorrow.

Following this front is a mores stable and dry air mass.

Northeasterly trade winds are to return across the island by Sunday, and linger for the first half of the week before weakening a bit.

There looks to be an upper level disturbance that forms near the islands the second half of the week that could increase showers across the islands.

Stay tuned to see how that develops within the next couple days.
