The changes coming to the Ala Moana area are all part of Transit Oriented Development.
It’s a story KHON2 previewed last week. The city held its fourth and final workshop on the TOD plan for the area around the Ala Moana rail station on Wednesday.
“We’re starting to see some beginning proposals come in from developers so you’re going to see more housing development, I think the designs will be better than we’ve seen before because the codes are requiring them to have really good street scape and very walkable on the ground floor,” said TOD and Community Building Administrator Harrison Rue.
Next, they’ll do some final refinements on the plan, and send it to the planning commission for review.
After that, it’ll be forwarded to the City Council for adoption.
