It’s been nearly a month since the state started overnight closures of some lobbies and baggage claim areas at Honolulu International Airport.
The transportation department says it’s meant to keep workers and passengers safe.
KHON2 wanted to know if it’s working.
“The only two citations were that very first night with a man and a woman, a couple, were cited, but since then, there hasn’t been any citations. I can say that first night there was 50 to 60 people that were on the premises,” said Department of Transportation spokesman Tim Sakahara.
Sakahara says the HDOT was getting complaints about people who slept at the airport overnight.
He says that’s no longer an issue.
