Cat trapped in moving box to be reunited with family

A cat who survived a trip from Virginia to Hawaii without food or water for more than a month will soon be reunited with her family–again.

Mee Moowe has been quarantined at a Maui veterinarian’s office for the past three months and is scheduled to return home on Valentine’s Day.

Owner Ashley Barth said “I don’t think we could get a more perfect date!”

The Barth family told KHON2 Mee Moowe had been mistakenly packed in a box by the movers and shipped to Maui, where the family now lives.

When their belongings arrived 36 days later, they heard a noise coming out of one of the boxes and discovered Mee Moowe weak and emaciated, but alive.

A veterinarian said it’s a miracle she survived that long without any water.

The Barth family is planning a small party with balloons and a banner to welcome the feline home.
